Exploring Art Materials

I would like to share with you artwork from viewing;
Exploring Art Materials  DVD by Mary Jo McGraw How to get more from what you already have. The menu option plays each one of the segments in art materials and projects so you can stop and start as many times as you like. While I have never been in a class with MaryJo, this DVD is like getting a front row seat as she teaches how to do each one of these projects. This DVD is professionally done through PageSage.
MaryJo takes the mystery out of eight products and demonstrates different ways to use fine art supplies that you may have in your stash. Here is a list of materials that you will learn how to use:
Gel and Glazing Mediums
Gesso, Acrylic Paints
Glues, Wax and Polish
Dry Masking, Pigments
MaryJo shows seven projects and lots of variations are shown in a Mini Gallery after each project. Here is a list of the projects that she demonstrates.
Again Affects
Faux Burl Wood
Coasters Makeover
Textured Tissue Box
Alerted Book Cover
Veiled Illusions
Creative Layers
MaryJo's finale piece is a combination of all the projects shown on this DVD. I was in awe when I first saw this project she calls; "Creative Layers."
While MaryJo uses a vintage photo in her project, I used a copy of my mother and my brother. I made this piece for my mother when she celebrated her 80th birthday.
Here is my example:

MaryJo shares more than 50 wonderful photographs of her artwork on this DVD. When you see a project, you can jump directly to the technique or project that inspires you with a touch of the button. I really like how you can stop and start as many times as you like. I hope you will add this DVD to your library.
Thank you for stopping my blog. Have a Nice Day!

Gelli Arts Printing Envelopes

Last week I purchased "the Kreate-a-lope." I have a stash of Gelli Arts Printing papers and had fun making these envelopes.  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
You can move the template anywhere you want on the paper, it's easy to use since you don't need scissors, you just tear.

Update January 3, 2016, with help from a stamping friend, Debbie she found me an online tutorial for a tried and true envelope glue.

A Time to Remember, Receive and Rejoice!

Sharing this simple little snow scene card with a quote outside and inside. The top stamped swirl was inked in black memento and then I went over the design with a gold gel pen. Watercolors were used to add color to the village and a tiny bit of distress glitter was applied over trees, snow and roof using a glue pen.
Finished card: 41/4"x 5 1/2"

Wishing Everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Angelic Card

White card stock was used to die cut TH angelic bigz die. Distress ink was used to color trumpet and wings. Tim's distress glitter was applied to wet glossy accents on the wings. I like using this glitter because once it dries is doesn't rub off. Add angel to trimmed handmade paper that was applied to a folded beige card. One of my sentiments was inked and stamped inside of card.
Finished card 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Thanks for Looking and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

12 Tags of 2015 ~ December

I had a lot of fun working on my tags this year following Tim's techniques for 12 Tags of 2015. I hope he continues next year.
I followed along on this tag using Tim's background technique, stenciled burlap, distress inked edges, alcohol inking star, using Chit Chat, sanding kraft-core, and then finished my tag using a TH angelic bigz die.
I applied a white angelic die cut under Kraft-core angelic die cut. (I off-set the white die cut just a little bit to balance the white trumpet.)
Glossy Accents was used to apply images to burlap and to add a glossy finish to trumpet.

You can view Tim's beautiful tag here: http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-december/

Thank you for looking and have a very nice day!

Blooming Flowers

If you read my last blog post you read how much I loved my flower garden this year. I took lots of photos from the start to the end of my flowers growing season. These are some of my flowers. The Geranium and Mandevilla are still alive and thriving. The zinnias were replaced with pansies last month.
When this photo was taken the zinnia were near the end of there blooming cycle. After removing the older plants, I noticed many baby zinnia plants coming up. All during the blooming season, I broke off older blooms, some blooms feel onto the soil.
