Natalie Paper Doll Tag

I love how this tag turned out. It's one of my favorites.

I would like to add this tag to
Inspiration Emporium August Monthly Challenge 2014
"Anything Goes"
http://blog.inspirationemporium.com/?p=2487

A black and white 2" strip from Harper's boutique paper pad was applied across the bottom of a 4 x 8" manila tag.
Tim's picked raspberry and festive berries distress inks were appplied over clockwork layering stencils followed by dot fade layering stencil with vintage photo.
Heat set.
Use foam applicator with these distress inks over the entire tag including the 2" strip of paper:
Picked Raspberry
Seedless Preserves
 Festive Berries

Place tag on craft sheet, tape down Dyan's checkered dots stencil over tag, use plastic tool to apply modeling paste over left side of stencil, lift off. Clean stencil with water immediately, set aside to dry, place stencil over the tag again matching dots, spray Primrose color shine over entire stencil, pull off stencil, before cleaning stencil apply wet stencil to another tag, clean stencil, set tags aside to dry.

Stamp border image across bottom of tag with black ink.

I spent one day making tattered flowers some were used on this tag other were used on my Valentina paper doll tag: http://wwwstampedimpressions.blogspot.com/2014/08/handmade-flowers-with-valentina-paper.html

Tim's word stamp was inked on manila card stock, cut out, distress edges with black ink, lightly picked raspberry on surface of stamped piece and then applied to tag.

My Natalie stamped and inked image by Julie Nutting was dressed with designer paper and then applied to tag using my Xyron.
Prima's flourish metal sticker was applied to finish my tag.

Mia All Dressed Up

If you are like me, you purchase designer pads and let them sit months before cutting into them and then when you do, you are pleasantly surprised with the results. This is what happened to me when I opened this black and white pad and cut into it to make this background piece. I used some of Tim's bright distress inks to apply color over the background.
Before preceding, I trimmed and applied my designer background to a 4x8" manila tag.
Next, I applied the stamped manila tag to the inked designer paper. It doesn't show is the photo but the designer paper has glitter on the flowers.
Distress inks were used to add color to designer paper for dress, shoes and hair band.
To finish my tag I used Prima flowers, Tim Holtz flourish die cut, Mia by Julie Nutting mixed media paper doll, bling and stamped background tag. Mia was inked with black archival ink on 140 lb watercolor paper. Watercolor crayons were used to apply hair and coloring to face, arms and legs.
The designer cardstock pad is by Cloud 9 Design.
In person it had a lot of glitz.

Handmade Flowers with Valentina Paper Doll

Early in the summer, I started the background using one of Tim's stencils with distress paints and then used a foam applicator with vintage photo on and around the tag. It didn't get finished so it was set aside.
When I was sewing recently, I picked up this tag again and added a few decorative stitches with my 1630 Bernina sewing machine.

And then on Sunday,
I pressed several regular size distress ink pads in coordinating colors down on my craft sheet, sprayed with a fine mist of water and then manila cardstock was dipped in the colors until I liked the results, each piece was heat set to dry and then die cut using Tim's flower strip die and Sizzix leaf die. After they were die cut, I used vintage photo distress ink around each petal using a round foam applicator. Each flower was shaped and then attached using tiny brads, some of the brads were dipped in paint. The flowers were added to the tag using Zots.
My newest mixed media Valentina stamped image by Julie Nutting was inked using Archival black ink on 140 lb. watercolor paper, cut out and then dressed with 6x6 Farmhouse Crate pad from my stash. I used distress marker to color her face, arm legs, hair and shoes. Valentina was then added to my tag using Zots.
The green flourish is actually trash that would otherwise be thrown out from a clear stencil I made with my Cameo. I dipped the flourish in paint to coordinate the colors in the tag. It was applied to tag with Glue n' Seal. The bling flower was added to tag using Glue n' Seal.
Finished tag 4x8"

My flower inspiration came from watching a tag being made my Tammy Tutterow.

12 Tags of 2014 ~ August

Tim says, create showing your own creative muse for August tag.
http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2014-august/

I had a lot of fun making this piece!
I was inspired to play with stamps by Ranger to make my tag for 12 Tags of 2014 ~August.

My tag started out about the same as Tim's tag using tissue tape, adding texture and then I inked and stamped two of Dina Wakley images from "Face in the Crowd" over the tissue tape.
I looked through my stencils and found a flower design. It was used to add a thin layer of modeling paste on my tag and then set aside to dry. Once dry, I applied distress stains to my craft sheet as Tim shares on his blog; link above. I used wild honey, victorian velvet, broken china, bundled sage and tumbled glass. I loved the bright colors the stain produced over the tag. And then it was time to finish my tag.

In a few places around the tag I applied Tim's burlap layering stencil with vintage photo distress ink. This really stood out when I did the final step with distress embossing ink and distress powder.

12 years ago on my first yahoo group, I put a washer over an eye on a stamped image similar to what I've done today. Back then, the owner of the group asked me what inspired me to add a washer over her eye?
Working on my tag today, I used a distress painted sprocket gear over a piece of film strip ribbon. My mini stapler was used to apply the film strip ribbon.

I applied 140 lb. watercolor paper to a round metal charm, stained it with distress inks and then added remnant rubs. It was then adhered to tag using one of Tim's brads with ring.

Years ago, Tim had tiny clips; I still have some in my stash. Broken china paint was used to distress the clip and then applied to tag with clip hugging around tag as seen in photo. I used one of his sprocket gears distressed with broken china paint and a brad on to the top clip and through the back of the tag. Doing so made my gear spin. I also added several more sprocket gears together adding broken china to one gear and then adding game spinner and brad to my tag.
Distress embossing ink was added around the tag followed by vintage photo distress powder, pouring off extra and then heat set.
A piece of vintage ribbon was sprayed with water and then add a few coordinate distress stains on craft sheet, rub ribbon into inks and then wrinkle, set aside to dry or heat set to dry. Add to tag.

My tag has spinning gears, raised flower designs, sprocket gears and game spinner.

"Follow Your Heart"

I used these products on my tag:
distress stains, distress paints, tissue tape, film strip ribbon,
distress powder, distress inks, distress embossing ink,
mini stapler, remnant rubs, burlap layering stencil, craft sheet.
sprocket gears, game spinner, mini clip and a few brads.
Archival black ink and heat it tool, mini applicator, modeling paste, vintage ribbon, watercolor paper and a round charm.

Imagination Tag using Julie Nutting Paper Doll

I love how this piece turned out.
The background started out as a designer page and then covered with distress inks, prima stamps, tissue tape, prima flowers, clock (prima paper pad) bling, chit chat by tim holtz and a prima doll stamped image by julie nutting. This time I used her as she is with her boots on. The designer paper used as her dress was perfect to complement the background.

Girls Night Out with Julie Nutting Stamps

Enjoyed making this tag using some of my Prima doll stamps with other stamping supplies.
Julie Nutting doll stamps and flowers are by Prima. I used Tim Holtz glitter and stencil. I used Tim's technique from 12 tags of 2014 ~ June although I moved the stencil around a bit to give it a different look.
Bling on flowers by Hobby Lobby. Ink pad by Ranger. Color Shine spray inks by Heidi Swapp. Designer paper from my stash. Clear Stamp unknown.
The spray inks I used doesn't take a photo well; in my hand it is more vibrant.
