Last night I got out the metal tape and played around with found objects in the house to make marks in the metal. I made the most beautiful color on the metal tape with pitch black, butterscotch and sail boot blue alcohol inks. DH found a steel wool pad in our wood working shop, yeah! I can finish this tag. (The photo shows blue background but it's more silver than anything)
I used lots of Tim's supplies, some were in my stash. One good find was a metal piece; it's my key holder. I found it at a little goodie store in Kansas. You never know what you find each time.

The supplies from Tim Holtz:
Tag die, Vagabond die cutting tool, Alcohol inks with applicator, Curiosities stamp set # 104 and  Steampunk stamp set #107, brush corduroy distress ink, white dabber paint, pen nib, brads, gears, word band, scissors, punch and mini-stapler.
Archival black ink from Ranger.

CC2C#20 Enameled Stamping

Linda chose Enameled Stamping page 44 as our technique challenge for CC2C#20.

The background on my piece is the enameled stamping technique.

The supplies I used:
Tim's Cling Stamp Sets: #126, #50 and #113, Alterations Vintage Cabinet Card die and insert, Distress inks and foam Applicator, Distress markers, Mini-stapler, Clear embossing powder, Archival Black ink, Glue N Seal, Enamel Accents; black and white, Sizzix Bat strip die, Cardboard, White, black and gold cardstock, Glue Dots, Silver cardstock.

I used the Enamel Accents white and black on the bats eyes, I didn't notice until I finished, the eyes are looking up.

The paper used with the cabinet card die was made with paper found in the specialty section of my hobby store.

I decided on day two to change the owl with another witch!

This piece was inspired when I saw a member from ATT group create artwork using the cabinet card die.

Toy Soldier

This toy soldier image is from Tim Holtz Christmas Blueprints #135 stamp set I won from Simon Says Stamp!
The Merry Christmas is from Christmas Memories #118 stamp set.

I inked the background with distress inks and then stamped the images with black archival ink. The toy soldier was painted with two distress markers. I added a gold embellishment on his hat.

Challenge for "Read all about it"

This is a "Read all about it" challenge using words.

This is my challenge project. I used a band saw to cut a science book. As you can see when open it's makes into a full heart.
This page was made with a real map, word stamps, flower stamped images, face stamp and more words. H20's were used to paint the flowers.

Snowman

Yes, it's a Snowman! Maybe it will help cool things off. We have had more than 30 days with over 100 degrees here in Oklahoma.
This is from the new set of stamps; Christmas Blueprint #135. I believe I read that one of Mario's son and Tim collaborated to make this stamp.
I also used Tim's snowflake stamp from set #66, his new summer set of distress inks and four of his distress markers. Archival black ink was used to stamp the snowman and snowflakes.
It's my first try with the snowman and I wanted to share it here on my blog.
I can't wait to use this stamp again and maybe when I feel better will come up with more ideas. This is the first time in 13 days I felt like stamping or adding a comment on other blogs.

 

 

Kraft Resist ~ Live in the Moment

I choose the Kraft Resist technique on page 41 from Tim's book https://timholtz.com/a-compendium-of-curiosities-volume-ii/ as our CC2C#19 challenge.

I had a lot of fun creating this tag using Tim's Remnants CMS #130 stamp set as well as his Kraft Resist paper, distress inks, glossy accents, distress stains, gears findings and archival black ink.

I named this tag "Live in the Moment" from one of Tim's word bands and after seeing 20 20 on television this evening about Jaycee Dugard. Her dream was to see her mother and fly in a hot air balloon.

CC2C#18 ~ Whitewash Stamping

Linda chose whitewash stamping technique as our challenge this week from Tim's Compendium of Curiosities II book on page 47.

I used Tim's Haberdashery CMS 105 stamp set, hanger findings, white picket fence dabber stain, distress inks, archival black ink, heat it tool and gold embossing powder on this tag.

No Rules Challenge ~ Spread my Wings

I made this tag using several stamp sheets from Dyan Reaveley. I used the circle border, girl with big glasses, wings, hairpiece and words.
I used Memories Mist sprays to color the background. The circles on the right were made with a metal lid my DH was throwing away.  I used watercolor crayons to color the images. Stickles Patina was applied to the wing. Liquitex professional acrylic ink was splattered over the tag before applying the cut-out image.

My favorite technique right now is Serendipity.

One page of mixed media paper was inked with Tim Holtz stamps and the other mixed media page was inked with Dyan Reaveley stamps. These pages were then covered with acrylic paints, dabber metallic paints and distress stains.
The two pages were cut into strips and then selected pieces were put together to cover this page.
Dyan Reaveley stamps for hair and face were ink with Archival black and then colored with distress markers. A stamp by Tim Holtz was inked and black embossed to finish my Serendipity page.

My dear mother ordered Tim's new Silhoutte stamp, it came this week just in time for our visit and make tags. I love this stamp set. I brought along my manila tags, distress ink pads, perfect pearls mist, dabber paints, movers and shapers leaf and branch die, chit chat, tattered pinecone die, diffuser template set, on the edge die and a texture fades embossing folder. I didn't have the texture fade embossing folder Tim used, but did have his embossing diffuser set, it did well for this project using the oval template.
Mother and I are having a ball making these tags. Each one a little different. I love how these leaf die cuts turned out. We are having fun making the flowers from the pinecone die.
Thanks Tim for another great tag project!!

I did find out that you don't use the instructions on the diffuser template package with the Vagabond, it has too much pressure and mars the template and eats into my embossing folders. Too fix this problem, I placed the oval template down on the solo plate with tag inside of embossing folder and then one cutting pad on top before running through the Vagabond.

Perfect Pearl Mists CC2C #16

A few days have passed since Linda posted our challenge #16 using Perfect Pearl Mists techniques on page 54 in Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2. 

My card finally came together and I finished it this evening.

I made this card using Tim's techniques with "perfect pearls, forever green and heirloom gold."

Supplies:
Tim's butterfly movers and shapers die, two texture fades, one SA stamp from #013, one SA stamp from #111, distress stain, distress inks, distress markers, ornamental die and ornamental movers and shapers die. 

I wish my camera would pick up all the luster seen on this card.

The flower stamp with words is from a new mounted stamp I bought this week. I didn't need anymore mounted stamps, but the stamp was less than 1/2 price and I liked it.
Bling on butterfly from my stash. And I almost forgot, corrugated cardboard from a cardboard box.  Foam dots were used to adhere the butterfly die-cut to the card.

She has an art journal paying homage to Leonardo, and then over on
Frilly and Funkie they are having a two part challenge on Renaissance Men.

 I'm paying homage to Leonardo.

These are two page spreads I made. The Mona image of the left is a transparent image, when you lift it up you see the stamped image of Da Vinci's illustration of the Vitruvian Man. On the right the stamped hat over Mona lifts up from a sleeve/pocket. It's says Let's move to the birth of the renaissance. 

Golden

Each month from May 2005 though March 2009 I did 46 book, dvd and product reviews with example for SS Reflections ezine.
I can't believe it's been almost seven years since I did this example from viewing
Collage Discovery Workshop: Make your own Collage Creations Using Vintage Photos, Found Objects and Ephermera by Claudine Hellmuth.
This is one of the canvas pieces that was published November 2005 using Claudine's technique using gel medium, a page from a book, clip arts, a rubber stamp (arch background) and an antique wood object. I named this canvas "Golden."

Little Bird

My little bird card was submitted to a magazine several years ago when asked to use a bird. It was never published so I'm sharing it here on my blog.

Paper Napkin Technique

In Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium chat last night Robyn shared this technique.
The  flower paper napkin colors were pink, green and purple. The stamps I used on this spread; Tim Holtz, Wendy Vecchi, IBFS, die cuts from Tim Holtz. Spray inks from Dylusions, Distress inks, Archival black ink, buttermilk paint and watercolor from Prang professional. Golden gel medium was used as an adhesive.

Painted Flowers

My gift arrived yesterday, Robyn sent a large foam stamp by donna downey.
I couldn't wait to play, this morning I stamped a word stamp over the watercolor paper, painted the background with transparent paint, stamped the flowers but not the stems and then used a Sharpie poster paint pen to make the stems similar to what was on the stamp. The word stamp was inked and cut between lines and then glued to the page. To add a little color around the page I used Distress antique linen with a foam applicator.

CC2C#14 ~ Spooky

Linda chose page 39; Guilded Kraft Glassine as this week's challenge #14 from Tim Holtz book, Compendium of Curiosities #2.

The guilded kraft glassine technique was used on the tree, stamps from Trick or Treat #50 and Mini-Halloween #113 and Branch tree die was used on this tag. The inks, tag die, stamps, tree die by Tim Holtz except the small stamp 31st.
Black seam binding was added to the top of tag. 

Dylusions Fuchsia Spread

This is my spread using Dylusions stencils and Dylusions stamps, Stampers Anonymous stamps, Rangers Fuchsia UTEE, acrylic paint, semi-moist watercolors and all of this on a base of tissue paper.

Spritz and Flick Distress Challenge #13

I created this card using Tim's technique with his tag die, stamps, inks and a number 5 from his die stencil set.

Cheering up Tag

I got out my new sprays inks and stamps from Dyan Reaveley to make this tag.
Looks better in person, I used perfect pearls on the wings, leaves and flowers. I used watercolor crayons with a waterbrush to color the girl with a duck on her head.
Dyan has a wild imagination to make a stamp with a bird/chicken as a hat.

Tag Book Swap

Instead of showing each tag of my Tag Book Swap, I decided to share them together. Each of the tags were made using Tim Holtz stamps, distress crackle, paints, distress inks, paper, die cuts and idea-ology.

In the photo it shows four tags without trim, these were finished with trim before sending them out.
